Master Bedroom Reveal: Hubby Went for a Pink Bed!

July 16, 2018

I have been so incredibly lucky to work with the amazing Lindye Galloway of Lindye Galloway Interiors to remodel our master bedroom. We have been SO enjoying our new room, and I am excited to share the reveal with you guys today! My husband says it feels like staying in a hotel… in the best possible way. And I have to admit I am spending wayyyy too much time in bed as of late because I love our new room so much.

Make sure you guys scroll all the way to the bottom for before photos and resources. But first a story… 🙂

We bought our home about 6 years ago, and it was a big hot mess. A hot mess with potential. Our neighbors told us that prior to our moving in our house was called the “weird house.” If rumors are true, the people who lived there before us had pet snakes, tarantulas, and chickens…? And the dining room had one pink wall and one purple. Like hot pink and lavender purple.

What I do know for sure, when we bought the place it was THRASHED. The carpets were in such bad condition, we couldn’t even secure our home loan unless the carpets were cleaned. And we didn’t want to invest in cleaning the carpets because we planned on ripping them out. My husband rented a carpet cleaner and did it himself and said it was the most disgusting thing ever.

Over the years we have slowly been working through our home, room by room and making it the way we want it. You can see our kitchen remodel here, dining room here, blogging office here. The one room we neglected was our bedroom. It didn’t even have a baseboard, and the ceiling had a large square cut out we didn’t know what to do with. Our bedroom furniture was very heavy, dark wood, and starting to feel outdated.

I was scrolling Pinterest for some master bedroom inspiration, and I came across Lindye’s work (see her Instagram here!). I couldn’t believe that she lived locally where I do in Orange County. I immediately contacted her and basically BEGGED her to work with me. I had a few ideas that I definitely wanted to incorporate into the room, but I also said she could have fun with it and take design risks. I was game!

Using my Pinterest design board as inspiration, this is what they came up with.

The most amazing feature being the pink velvet bed of MY DREAMS! Going into our design process, I knew I wanted a pink bed. It’s the one thing popping up all over my Pinterest board. People are constantly asking how I convinced my husband to go for it. Fortunately my husband leaves the design choices to me because he knows it makes me happy. As long as I do his laundry and he has a big T.V. we are all good.

And speaking of a big T.V., we went with the Frame TV. Let me count the ways which I love this T.V.! If you aren’t familiar it, long story short the T.V. has a frame and you can put it in art mode to display either your own photos or art! You can dim the light setting so that it looks less T.V. and more like framed art. In these photos, the T.V. is in bright mode. I also love that the remote control works without having a receiver out in the open. I hate cords and cable boxes showing and am always trying to hide them so this is a huge plus for me.

Prior to the remodel, we used big bulky dressers to store our clothes. And we had a HUGE T.V. that weighed like 100 pounds (which tells you how old it was) sitting on top one of the dressers. After meeting with Lindye, we decided the best course of action was to add built-in’s to the room. She devised a simple design which incorporated both open shelves and drawers for clothes. I love how it turned out! While Max watches cartoons in the morning, I admire my shelves. 😉

Here is what the ceiling looked like BEFORE… remember that big square cut-out I was talking about… we also had a ceiling fan that we got rid of. I always thought I couldn’t live without a ceiling fan, but now that I don’t have one I swear I don’t notice the difference.

If you are in Orange County or surrounding areas and in need of trim, I highly recommend Kyle from Valley Wanscoting and Trim. He transformed our ceiling! These photos were taken about midway through bedroom remodel. Before the grasscloth wallpaper was installed.

Whew! Thanks for sticking through to the end! I have a love for interior design, but it can be challenging to do on your own. I am so thankful to Lindye for working with me on my master bedroom. You can check out more of her projects here!
