This was not only my first year attending New York Fashion Week, but it was my first time in New York. Ever. How crazy is that?! Fashion week was an experience, and I am still processing how I feel about my trip. The word that best describes the feel of fashion week is overwhelming. It was seriously go-go-go the minute we got there. You are constantly rushing from one place to the next, trying to hail a cab or call an uber, and before you know it the day is over.

I felt a little in over my head. It really opened up my eyes to the competitiveness of the blogging world, and I was way out of my comfort zone. I would say I am definitely more of a homebody type of personality. I can be outgoing and function in social situations, but it drains me. I have been home from NYC almost a week, and I am still recovering. All I want to do is stay in my pj’s, read, watch Game of Thrones, and nap.

This week I will be sharing several of my looks from fashion week and talking more about my experience. I think it’s interesting to hear about fashion week from the perspective of someone that has never been there before, and I hope you think it’s interesting too! Today I am sharing what I wore on Day 2. My day 1 outfit will not be mentioned or discussed. ha! I didn’t love my outfit that day, and its only saving grace was that I wore my ballet flats so at least my feet didn’t hurt.

I arrived in New York with a suitcase packed of new, mostly black clothes. As soon as I attended my first fashion show, I realized I had it all wrong. I guess when I thought New York, I thought black, but for fashion week at least this year anyway it was all about color and patterns. Putting together combinations that clashed and were interesting that you probably wouldn’t normally wear. I still wanted to feel like me and wear things that I feel comfortable in and would wear again.

We stayed at the NoMo SoHo which is smack in the fashion district with lots of good shopping within 5 minutes walking distance. My roomie Lyndi and I dashed over to the local Bloomingdale’s, and that’s where I spotted this pinafore. It is seriously one of my all-time favorite pieces that I had in New York. I felt so great wearing it, and I just know that I am going to wear it a lot. It’s something you don’t see a whole lot of, and I can think of so many shirts that would look great with it- collared shirts, t-shirts, turtlenecks, blouses. Seriously everything goes! I linked my exact pinafore, but you can find a similar style for less (which is on major sale) here.

Thank you for reading and make sure to check back later this week for more NYFW! xxx
