NYFW Wrap-Up
During my stay in NYC, this was hands-down the most spectacular view that I experienced. And the cool thing is, it was on the rooftop of the NoMo SoHo, the hotel where we were staying. My photographer Felicia mentioned that there was a cool rooftop at my hotel so we went on the hunt. We took the elevator to the highest level, and then the stairs as high as they would go. I was in my high heels and starting to sweat. We got to the very top level, and… the door was locked. ha! By that point, I was regretting not asking someone at the hotel for directions and access. We started trekking our way downstairs (as we were losing the good light), and a few flights down I somehow located this rooftop deck. It was also locked and I had to convince the front desk to let us shoot out there. It was definitely worth all the obstacles because the view was magnificent. Unfortunately the wind was also magnificent, and I think many got a glimpse of my nude undies.

My trip to New York for fashion week was a lot of firsts for me. First time at fashion week and first time in New York. Because it was my first time in New York, we really wanted to do a couple touristy things but it was hard to fit in with our fashion week schedule. It’s hard to understand unless you experience it for yourself, but every day at fashion week goes by in a quick blur. I thought I would be able to dedicate more time to my blog and posting on Instagram all day long since I was away from home and didn’t have Max, but that wasn’t the case.
Some of the highlights of our trip…
Lunch at Laudarée in Soho and got some of their beautiful macarons (see it here on Instagram). This is a definite must if you are visiting New York! We ate outside, and it felt very Parisian and had pretty salads. I am not a huge macaron person, but these were the best I have ever had.
While in New York, we had so many people tell me to eat at Beauty & Essex. It has the best name ever, and we had so many different people recommend it to us that we had to experience it for ourselves. It’s a great place to order a lot of dishes and share among the group, and everything was melt in your mouth good. We went there for lunch, but I think it’s great for dinner.
Our last night we had dinner at The Smith, and it was definitely my favorite. The food was out of this world good. I ordered a bibimbap because my husband Chad and I had watched Master Chef where they made those, and I had been craving one ever since. I have no idea what I was eating, but it was damn delicious.
Another highlight was visiting the Zimmermann store. Zimmermann is my favorite brand even though I don’t own much of it because it can be pricey. It’s ultra feminine, and right up my alley. We were in a taxi heading to our hotel, when I saw it’s store-front and realized it was within walking distance of our hotel. It was a dream just to go in there and try on all the things I have been eyeing online.
My outfit was inspired by this dress. I love the pop of burgundy against the blue so I knew I would love how this ice blue dress and burgundy velvet bag would play off each other. My hubby got me the velvet bag as an early birthday gift so I could take it to New York. My birthday is tomorrow and we have some fun things planned so make sure you are following along on Instagram!
Happy Friday! xo
