Every year when January rolls around, I find myself bursting with positivity and motivation. I can’t ever decide on just one resolution. I want to fix it all! I will drink more water. I will go to sleep earlier. I will exercise regularly. The list goes on and on. And each year I tell myself to just choose one thing because what inevitably happens is that I fail. I try to hit every aspect of my life, and it’s too overwhelming to implement that much change. I am an all or nothing kind of girl.
When I started my blog, I didn’t realize how much time blogging would take. The plus is that I can work from home, but the downside is that I am always working. And a lot of that “work” I am doing is on my phone- posting on Instagram, commenting on other people’s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. etc. I know it sounds silly to qualify these activities as work, but they are for a blogger. And I can’t say I am that diligent about it, and I am still always on my phone. It takes time away from my family, and I can tell that I am not really present and in the moment.
On Instagram, I talked about taking better care of my skin being on of my new year’s resolutions… and it definitely is, but more importantly I want to be present in whatever activity I am doing. When I am with Max, putting my phone away and giving him all of my attention. And when I am on my phone working- doing that at a time when I can truly focus and devote myself to what I am doing. This is going to be really hard for me- I constantly feel like my mind and body are going in a ton of different directions. Thats what we moms do- we multi-task. When I used to do a lot of yoga, I felt more in tune with my body and in the present. That feeling is so foreign to me now, and I know it creates a lot of anxiety and unease.
Pantone introduced their Pantone Color of the Year 2016, and it is actually two colors- Rose Quartz (a light rosy pink) and Serenity (an icy blue). The two colors combined create a balance which promotes connection and wellness and peace. They were in the inspiration for my outfit and are fitting for my new year’s resolution. I guarantee you will be seeing a lot more of these colors in fashion over the next year!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope you have a fantastic week! The Bachelor starts tonight, and I am so excited! I love 2016 so far ha!
