2015 In Review

January 1, 2016

2015 was a big year for me. It was the year I finally got off my arse and started my fashion blog. For a long time I felt like I didn’t have a purpose in my life. Before I had Max, I worked at a job- and liked what I did- but it wasn’t that compelling career I always dreamed I would have. In fact, it was kind of out of left field with my personality. But I was making good money, and I had a lot of freedom. In my spare time, I liked to browse online. This became part of my ritual- I would get to work, drink my coffee at my desk, and seriously just kill it, getting everything done so fast and then look at the new arrivals on Shopbop & Revolve.

After Max was born, the plan was to work out of my home on a part-time basis, and that would have been perfect if the kid ever slept. But actually luckily for me he didn’t, because if he had I would still be working at my prior job and wouldn’t have started my blog. I am also lucky to have a husband who believes in me and is supporting me on this endeavor because there is risk involved. A blog is a business, and we are investing in my business. And what if I fail? I have high aspirations for my blog… so many ideas… I really want to incorporate more topics into my blog besides fashion- beauty, lifestyle, home decor, and even a “What I’m Reading” section. You might not know this about me, but I LOVE reading. Even more than I love shopping, and that says a lot, right!

It may sound silly to say my fashion-based blog has given me a purpose, but it has. It has woken up that creative side of me, where I can dream up new concepts and bring them to life. I get to work with so many like-minded creatives like my photographer Taylor Cole, and it is so inspiring and fun.

I am just kicking myself for not starting it sooner. I let something silly like choosing my website name hold me back for almost a year. And also I was unsure about whether I could really do it, whether I am good enough… all those fears that most of us have deep inside. I used to walk around cataloging my outfits in my head (yes, I know… deep thoughts people), or when I would browse online think to myself- oh this would be a great product to use as a similar style. If these weren’t signs pointing me in a direction, I don’t know what are.

Thank you so much for joining me on my fashion journey. As I put this post together, it was fun to look back at where I started and how much my style has evolved. I have learned so much this past year, and I am excited to see where this goes. The sky is the limit!!!

Happy New Year!

XO Missy
