If you follow fashion blogs, you might be hearing a lot lately about ‘transitional’ pieces that can take you from summer to fall. And honestly, I never really consciously thought about such things until I started fashion blogging myself. When I was younger, I used to shop without any direction (as I am sure is the case for most of us), and whatever caught my eye I bought. I am not saying I bought a lot, but what I would buy were items I absolutely loved… but maybe couldn’t get a lot of wear out of or didn’t need. Like I would have tons of pants and bottoms but no tops. Isn’t that the worst?

Now that I am older and investing in my wardrobe, I really try to think about what I need for the upcoming season and splurge only on staple pieces that won’t go out of style and coordinate with what I already have in my closet. Sometimes it’s clothes, but usually this means bags and shoes. A perfect example are these Vince wedges. They are the perfect summer to fall shoe- not quite a sandal and not a bootie but somewhere in between. They go with dresses, skirts, and denim, and are a good height to pair with flare jeans which are making a comeback for fall (yay!). If you missed my recent post on flare denim, see it here– loving that trend, so cute… check it out!!!).

This Tory Burch shift dress is also a great transition piece. It is lightweight enough to wear on a summer night (well once we get through this horrible heat wave, ugh), and in the fall it would be great paired with some booties. With this heat wave and our kitchen remodel underway, I am really dreaming about 6 weeks from now when fall is a reality and I am cooking in my new kitchen. I can’t wait!!! I would show you guys the before pictures (our kitchen was completely gutted and it is in a very sad, depressing state), but I need some pretty after pictures before I can post.

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great rest of the week!

xx Missy
