I am one of those people that agonizes over every little decision. Even when it comes to something simple like where to eat. I am not a huge believer in horoscopes, but I am a Libra, and this is such a Libra thing to do. I drive myself crazy and my husband too… and he being a Libra as well… well sometimes it can get pretty sticky as I am sure you can imagine.
Let me walk you through my Hunter boot conundrum. I knew I wanted Hunter boots. I knew I wanted them to be red. Easy right? The first question- and seriously I see this on so many blogger’s pages so I know I am not the only one out there agonizing over this- do I get shiny or matte? Oh, I probably spent an hour or so googling images of shiny versus non-shiny, and did you know there are two shades of red? I decided to go with the Hunter boots with a gloss, and it’s really a matter of personal preference. I absolutely love my red Hunter boots in the gloss and am happy with my decision!
The next part was harder… what style of Hunter boots to get. Did you know there are so many different styles (that look pretty much the same) of the Hunter boots? I can’t even tell you how many times I googled comparisons of the styles or how many times I read the same article which has a girl standing in the boots on her toilet. lol dying! It seems like there are a lot of articles out there with suggestions for petite girls (go with the kid’s size! slightly shorter but cheaper) and girls with broad calves (go with the Huntress)… see I am literally an expert on this subject now. But as much as I looked I couldn’t find a suggestion for the best Hunter boots for tall slender women.
I narrowed it down to two styles- the Original (can’t go wrong with the original right?) and the Tour (a bendy, lightweight version of the Original). After comparing the measurements of the two styles, (the Original has a slightly longer shaft), I ordered the Original and went down a half size. They were huge and clunky on me, and my legs were swimming in them. I exchanged for the Tour and went down one entire size instead of a half, and they were too small in the footbed. At this point I was so over opening these huge boxes, packaging them back up, and dropping at the post office. I thought, maybe it wasn’t meant to be and I should stick with my bow rain boots (which I love). With that said, I gave it one last shot and ordered the Hunter Tour Gloss in Military Red and went down just a half size from my normal size, and they fit perfectly!
The Tour isn’t just for tall people either. My friend Alissa from the blog Lipgloss & Labels wears the Tour, and she is petite (you can check out her super cute post on Hunter boots here).
I hope I haven’t bored you to death with my Hunter boots saga. I sure wish I had found this blog post when I was “hunting” (so cheesy) for mine. It would have saved me a whole lot of packaging tape.
xx, Missy
