The holidays are upon us, and if there was ever an excuse to get playful & fun with your wardrobe, this is it. I am talking sequins mixed with leopard or plaid and faux fur. For the holidays, I say more is more, and your outfit isn’t complete without a bold red lip. But that’s just my opinion.
I truly believe that a great plaid shirt is one of those wardrobe basics that every woman should have in her closet. But sometimes they are a bugger to find (sorry been watching to much of The Holiday and am drinking wine as I type this and words like ‘bugger’ come out ha). For a plaid shirt to pass the test, it needs to be soft, have minimal gaping at the bust, and long enough to pair with leggings. This plaid shirt passes with flying colors- literally the softest shirt ever, relaxed fit at the bust, and long even on me. I love that it’s red, and when I put it on I feel like it instantly brightens my face.
When you think plaid shirt, you likely think to pair with jeans. To change it up, I would suggest substituting your denim for a pair of faux leather leggings (and some black booties) or tucking into a pencil skirt for a fun yet chic work look.
For the holidays, it is a whole other ballgame. Throw all the do’s and don’ts out the window and have fun with your look which is what I did when I styled this plaid shirt two ways. I adore the combination of plaid and tulle (I wore a similar version of this outfit in black this post here!). This white tulle skirt is a perfect piece for the holidays and comes in other colors too. The second look is so fun- plaid plus a sequin pencil skirt, a Baublebar statement necklace, and red shoes. I am loving everything sequined right now- crop tops, pants, skirts… I want it all! The trick is to balance the other half so it looks classy & fun instead of cheap. I have a feeling there might be some more sequined looks coming to the blog (and soon!) so you will see what I mean.
Thanks so much for stopping by! There will be new outfit posts every day this week, lots of inspiration for all your holiday events! Hope to see you back here soon!!!
xx, Missy
