First off…. Happy President’s Day! How lucky for me that I just shot this little red, white & blue outfit that I get to share with you today. I was so wrapped up in Valentine’s Day that the whole President’s Day thing didn’t hit me until the end of last week. It is going to be 90 degrees today (seriously what!!!) and we are going to be spending the holiday either poolside or at the beach. Personally, I haven’t been overwhelmed by the President’s Day sales that started over the weekend, and I am a little bit mad about it. My family is headed to Hawaii the first week of March, and there is some shopping to be done but it looks like everything we need is full-price. The only sale that I have been eyeing so far is at Restoration Hardware Teen, where for every $500 you spend you get $100 off. Now you may be thinking- what on earth does she need at RH Teen? Well let me tell you… a lot. I don’t know what that says about my taste, but I think RH Teen is freakin fabulous! Here is what I am eyeing:

  1. This desk for my blogging
  2. These shelves for my purses
  3. This floor mirror for my #ootd photos

These things have been on my mental wish list for a while, and being the indecisive Libra that I am… will likely stay there for a little while longer.

Over the last week, I have been working on my closet and separating out things to donate & sell. It really hit home that the classic, timeless investment pieces are by far my favorite. I love following trends and am guilty of splurging on trendy items (and will continue to do so I am sure), but those items don’t have staying power in my closet and the staple pieces I grow to love even more with time.

That’s why I love this outfit so much. It’s simple without being boring, classic & timeless, and you can get a lot of wear out of each item. Yes, even the red lace-up shoes! This outfit was inspired by one of my all-time favorite style pins featuring an outfit by Olivia Palermo.

I pinned this 2 years ago, and I love it just as much and it is still a fresh & current look for today. Not only is my outfit inspired by Olivia Palermo, but the white peplum shirt is designed by her. It’s part of the Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 collaboration available at Nordstrom. There are so many great pieces, but I am especially loving this denim blazer which is even prettier in person. The white peplum shirt isn’t available online as of yet, and I got mine in store. I will update this if I see it come available online. This one is really pretty as well, and would be cute layered over a lacy top so that it peeks through in the back.

Lace-up sandals are a huge trend going into spring, and these red ones are still my favorite. I usually tie them with the strings in the back, but I love how fun & flirty it looks with bows in the front. They are starting to sell out and hard to find so get them while you can. These red lace-up sandals look almost identical for a fraction of the price.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have a great President’s Day!
