Happy Monday! I hope you all had an amazing Mother’s Day, whether it was spending time with your mom, your kids, or your pets. I saw a lot of pet moms posting about their “babies” on Instagram yesterday. Unfortunately, my husband was in Iowa this past weekend because his grandma passed away. Chad’s grandma Ina was a very special lady, and I feel blessed to have known her for the time that I did. She was an amazing grandma, almost like a second mom to my husband. She was the kind of grandma that never missed mailing a card and check for birthdays even though she was over 90 years old. I will never forget her and am so thankful for the love she showed my husband. Grandma Ina, you will be missed.
So while Chad was in “Eye-a” as Max pronounced it, we stayed home in Orange County. My husband sent me some beautiful flowers for Mother’s Day so I felt very loved even though we couldn’t be together. I posted a pic of the gorgeous flowers he sent me on Instagram. I really only started appreciating flowers a few years ago, and now I am completely obsessed. My husband has become very good at picking out the best flowers for me. While I have just started getting into real flowers, I have been a sucker for floral print for a long time so when I saw this top, I had to have it. It was a splurge, but when the salesperson rang it up, it was almost 50% off. Don’t you just love it when that happens? I thought this floral print top would be the perfect piece to use for a mixed prints look.
I absolutely love the mixed prints trend. I styled it here with a floral blouse and gingham bottom, which would be a cute look for the office. I kept the top and bottom in the same color family (black tones) so although the prints mix the color keeps it cohesive. I also love that despite black being the predominant color, the floral and gingham prints keep it fresh for spring. What do you think of the mixed prints trend?
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!
xx Missy
