I absolutely LOVE getting dressed-up. I remember during my single days when I didn’t have as much responsibility (i.e. KIDS! ha) I would dread getting ready. It seemed like such a chore spending an hour or more doing my hair and make-up and trying on different outfits. Now that I am a stay-at-home mom, I dream of the day where I can totally relax and take my time getting ready. Right now it’s a total juggling act to get everyone ready and out the door, and I always feel kind of thrown together. #momlife
I shot these photos with one of my favorite mamas, Lyndi from Lyndi in the City. Funny story… I met Lyndi at a local blogging event, and I thought she was super sweet but didn’t get the chance to chat with her and really connect. Fast forward a week or two later, it was Halloween of last year and as I was exiting the front door of my house to go trick-or-treating she was literally outside my front door. It was almost like a dream… I think she was dressed up as a nurse so that of course threw me off, and I asked her “Lyndi, is that you?” We are actually neighbors… like walking distance neighbors which is a crazy coincidence since we live in Orange County which is big. We started carpooling to events and really clicked, and our little boys who are the same age became instant BFFs too so that really clinched it.
Lyndi and I felt like kids playing with sparklers and confetti. We had so much fun shooting these photos… maybe too much fun because I had the hugest smile on my face in literally every. single. photo. We always have to coordinate on what we wear so we don’t end up looking like twins. We have this habit of buying the exact same thing and joke that we just need to share a closet. I think she wants to get my sequin leggings, and I am obsessed with her tinsel jacket (so perfect to throw on over a dress for a holiday party!).
During the holidays, I feel like you get a hall pass to wear something you wouldn’t normally wear (HELLO, sequin pants!) and it works! I had so much fun putting together this look from Express. They have an incredible selection of party wear, and honestly I had a tough time choosing. It was between the sequin leggings and this gorgeous black lace jumpsuit (might need to scoop that up next!). Their price-point is great too, and I was able to get virtually my entire outfit (minus the shoes) for $200 which is crazy because it includes this fun clutch! I nabbed my stuff during a promotional sale so keep your eye out for those. I am also really impressed with the quality… especially of this velvet blazer. I have been on the hunt for the perfect velvet blazer (another great piece to layer over dresses for the holidays), and I finally found it at Express. I am sure you will see me styling it different ways over the next few months.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! “I give you all my hearts.” In Max’s words. 🙂
