Before I jump into today’s post which is DEFINITELY a fun change-up haha.. I want to give a big shout-out to my husband Chad. It took him a while to get on board with this blogger thing, and fast forward three years later and he’s posing in his undies. Did you know that I can be very persuasive when I want to be? ha! Well now you know. 😉

Chad’s birthday is tomorrow, and because guys can be hard to shop for and even more difficult to plan a birthday for… I am sharing some of my go-to gift ideas and birthday traditions.

We take birthdays very seriously in our home. They have gotten a little out of hand where if your bday fell on the weekend, it was birthday weekend. Or if it fell on a weeknight we were celebrating that night AND on the weekend. We have had to dial it down a bit. Mostly because I am the one planning it all and it’s just too much. Also I want the kids to appreciate things more.

So everyone gets a DAY… from start to finish. Usually for Chad’s birthday, I start by making him breakfast. If his birthday falls on a weekend, we make it breakfast in bed. To make it special, I’ll stick candles in pastries (his favorite are cinnamon rolls). And then we finish off his birthday with a homemade dinner… either lasagne or chili which are his two favorites. So basically on his birthday I make him all his favorite food!

We open presents at the end of the day after dinner. Some of my go-to gift ideas are clothing, cologne, underwear + socks, and a gift card for something he has been needing like a massage, game of golf, etc.

I usually look at birthdays as an opportunity to give something they want AND something they need. Guys ALWAYS need more underwear, and it’s something I’ve been buying for him for his birthday for as long as I can remember. Chad laughs about how he hated getting underwear and socks for presents as a kid and it’s so funny how things change and he loves it now.
