Goodbye O.C.

July 5, 2021

Thank you Serena & Lily for sponsoring this post!

I’ve lived in California for my entire life, and and in Orange County for the last twenty years. I thought I would live in California forever so it’s crazy to announce… WE’RE MOVING!

And like a lot of people in the U.S., we are moving to Florida. 😉

My fiancé Nicholas and I got engaged this past September. He lives full-time in West Palm Beach, Florida where his business is headquartered. I will be making my way to Florida in just a few short weeks while Max spends time with his dad here in California. Max will start the school next year in Palm Beach, and I am so excited for him.

Nicholas and I are building a new construction home, and in the meantime while our home is being built, we are renting a cute little place in West Palm Beach. The rental has a cottage feel too it so it will be easy to transition a lot of the furniture and decor items I already use in my home. The best part of the rental is the amazing backyard which has a very Palm Beach, lush, tropical feel. Max was sold as soon as he saw the hammock. Honestly, we were just lucky to get our hands on a rental period because inventory is so limited with so many moving to Florida.

It’s just weeks before my house will be completely packed up in boxes, and I am FINALLY sharing a peek into my home office. It is my favorite room in the house right now. It has a very cozy and happy vibe. My office is directly across from my bedroom so when I open my bedroom door in the morning, it is the first thing I see.

Today on the blog I am sharing my one of my absolute favorite home decor purchases which is this gorgeous rattan pendant light from Serena & Lily that I have over my desk in my home office. I first spotted this Santa Barbara pendant in designer Erin Fetherston’s chic Hollywood home over her dining room table (Pinterest Image). At the time, the pendant was completely backordered/ sold-out because it was that popular. I originally wanted to use the pendant in my previous house in the stairwell (Read post here) but because it was unavailable I went with this one instead.

Fast forward a few years later and I finally have the Santa Barbara pendant in my home office. I think the reason this pendant is so popular and loved is that it could fit into almost any home decor style. The trend in interior design right now is to incorporate different elements and styles. This woven pendant would easily work in modern, boho, traditional, interiors which makes it a versatile piece. The rattan is a nice pop of natural materials, and the oversized proportions of this pendant are gorgeous. The actual pendant is two feet high so it makes such a statement, but it is still light and airy. The pendant itself weighs less than 10 pounds. For such a dramatic statement piece, the price is pretty affordable too. It is what makes my office.

I’ve had this pendant for a few years now, and I still love it just as much. It’s not one of those items that is so trendy that you get tired of quickly. It still looks perfect and brand new. I had an electrician professionally install the light fixture for me, and he had to adjust the cord pretty short so that it would work with my ceiling height. Because the pendant is over a desk, I was able to drop it a little lower since nobody will ever be standing underneath it.

My office sits right next to Max’s room so I actually use this pendant as his night light. I like to sleep in a pitch black room (with an eye mask!) and I turn off all the lights in my house but this one, and it has such a pretty, warm glow at night with the light that peeks through the woven material. In our rental, I plan on using the Santa Barbara pendant in Max’s room (Pinterest Image). Love!

This pendant light looks great in almost any room… I have seen them paired in kitchens over the island. Serena & Lily recently started carrying this similar tapered rattan pendant light that is my newest obsession.

I will keep you posted on our move and take you guys along with me as I decorate our cottage rental and then our new construction home. I know that I haven’t been blogging in a while. Please leave any requests for certain types of blog posts you want to see in the comments below. xx
