Chambray Top Beaded Miniskirt
Outfit Details:
Top: Topshop | Skirt: Raga | Shoes: Matiko | Bag: Madewell | Rings: Gorjana
When I spotted this beaded miniskirt at Nordstrom, my immediate thought was “chambray top” (well, after I thought- yes to this!). The salesperson who helped me hadn’t seen the skirt before because she worked in a different department, and she was all jazzed about it since she had plans to go out that weekend and thought it would be perfect. When she rang me up for the purchase, she asked where I was going and I had to laugh. Although Max is 2 1/2, I am still very much in mom mode and I can’t say we go out a lot unless we have special plans. So the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind that this was a “going out” skirt. Because it is very short (it is a miniskirt), to make it more daytime friendly I paired it with this button up chambray top and I just love the contrast. I am a girly girl and I prefer to be in dresses or skirts. I am pretty tall so unless it is a maxi skirt, a lot of skirts are super short on me. I still wear them, but I always wear a fitted short underneath. I still get some strange looks when I bare my legs in a short skirt (from a few moms mostly), but I feel confident because I know that I am covered and nobody will be able to see anything. Does anyone else do this?
When I was growing up, my mom gave me a few fashion tips that have always stuck with me and truly still influence how I dress today. One of them was- if you are going to show off a feature- only show one thing. Like in this outfit because I am wearing a short skirt, I kept my top covered with a relaxed fit top. It keeps the look being flirty and classy. You have got to keep a little bit of mystery. The guys love it! haha What do you guys think of this chambray top beaded miniskirt combo? Would you rock this look in the daytime?
Thanks for reading!
