Brunch at Settebello

March 17, 2016

I’ve been blogging for a little less than a year, and as I approach my 1 year anniversary I find myself reflecting on my experience. I will scroll through my Instagram posts until I get to the first ones and be amazed at how much style has evolved. I will reminisce about the exciting moments my blog has had- when I got accepted into rewardStyle (you may know it as LiketoKnow.it) as a contributor, when I got my first major repost (see it here and this one too), and when Anthropologie started following me on Instagram. Because I am hard on myself, I sometimes focus too much on the mistakes I have made or I think- darn, I wish I had done that better. As a newish blogger, some of my mistakes are more fresh in my mind than say someone who has been blogging for a few years. And now that I’ve got your attention, make sure to check back next month when I reveal exactly what these mistakes are, so you can avoid them too (if you are an aspiring blogger). How is that for a cliffhanger?

When I first started blogging, my friend Erica from 10.11 Makeup helped doll me up. I wasn’t sure how much makeup I needed for photos, and it gave me an extra boost of confidence because I wasn’t used to having my photos taken. She runs a successful hair & makeup studio that specializes in weddings and has a great presence on social media. I would always ask her for strategy advice on how to improve my business and get my name out there. One of the things she kept saying was that I needed to go to events. I was so clueless that I literally had no idea what she was talking about. She would say, ” I saw so-and-so at such-and-such event. You need to start going.” Eventually the event invitations started rolling in, and the reason I am talking about this is…. I just hosted my 1st event last weekend, and I am excited to share that story and photos with you.

My favorite meal of the day is breakfast, and I hosted brunch at Settebello in Newport Beach with some of my favorite bloggers.

What I wore…

White Leather Shift Dress | Sapphire Diaries

Now let’s be real… I wouldn’t normally wear a leather dress to brunch, but hey it’s white and I thought it would be a fun change-up from the zillion floral things I have in my closet. This white leather short sleeve sheath dress is part of the Kendall + Kylie collection that’s available at a bunch at my favorite places to shop- Nordstrom, Shopbop, Revolve, Neiman’s, Bloomingdale’s. I am always so surprised by how much some people dislike the Kardashians’. I totally get that the Kardashians’ may not be your style, but some people get so fired up. Personally, I am a fan. They make me feel better about my crazy family, and I really admire how close-knit they are, and most importantly… several of them have the OCD/ cleaning thing that I have so I guess I feel like we are kindred spirits. Don’t be mad. 😉

If you are local to Orange County, Settebello in Newport is a hidden gem that you need to know about. It’s located in the Crystal Cove plaza off PCH in Newport, across the street from the ocean and next to Javier’s. Their brunch is phenomenal, and they have a large space so less time waiting to be seated. I hosted a few of my girlfriend’s, mostly bloggers there for brunch, and we had the best time!

Settebello Avocado & Egg Crostini

A majority of us ordered the same thing- the avocado & egg crostini. I am obsessed!… and still craving it. I seriously could have that for every day for breakfast and not get tired of it.
