Bring Back the House Dress

Every so often I come across a super comfy, yet ultra flattering dress and it becomes my “house dress.” With that said, I’d like you to meet my fall house dress. She’s cute. She’s comfy. And she’s under $100!

You might be thinking- what the heck is a house dress anyway? To be honest, I thought it was something I made up. 😉 I would occasionally fall in love with a casual dress, and then I would wear it several days in a row. Ew, I know! My husband would tease me, “you’re wearing that same dress again?” If you are a stay-at-home mom, you might be guilty of the same thing (although it’s more likely leggings than a dress, am I right?). Anyway, my response to my husband for as long as I can remember has been “it’s my house dress, honey.” My current rotation of house dresses include this one (in a different color) and this one (which I wore in this post here). These are seriously my go-to’s that I throw on if it’s an early day and Max has school, and I don’t have a lot of time to get ready.

After I shot these photos, I met up with my family at this Italian restaurant for dinner and was gushing about how much I liked this dress and had a feeling I would wear it nonstop. It got me thinking about house dresses, and I immediately googled when I got home. Basically a house dress is a simple, casual dress suitable to do housework and run errands. So no I didn’t make it up, and no it’s not an excuse to wear the same dress two days in a row haha. I think a lot of my generation has replaced it with work-out leggings but I am all about the house dress and plan on adding many more to my wardrobe.
