Happy Wednesday! I am finally getting back into the groove of things after the 4th of July holiday, and it feels so good! I can’t even tell you how much I love this outfit. I wore it for the first time while we were vacationing in Hawaii a few months ago. As you can probably tell from my photos, I am a very smiley person who laughs a lot. I don’t think of myself as sexy- more like the friendly, girl-next-door type, but when I wear this kimono and it slips off my shoulder I feel my inner seductress coming out, haha. This kimono is from H & M a few years ago, and it is no longer available in stores but I tracked down two that I love for $100 or less here and here. If you have been timid or on the fence on buying a kimono, you should definitely try it out. They double as both a swimsuit cover-up and a light cover-up for warm summer nights.

I actually wanted to talk about the little black tank dress that I am wearing in the photos. The one you probably didn’t even notice with everything else I have going on. I think as you get older and start investing money into your wardrobe, there are certain basics that you need to have- and one of them is a simple black tank dress. It is SO versatile, and it acts as a blank slate so you can completely create different looks with your accessories. This black tank dress is by Splendid, and it is under $60 so it’s a no-brainer. If you don’t believe me, read all the positive reviews on Shopbop. I love how the scoop neck is not cut too low so it works for daytime. I have both the short version and the maxi version, and they are both such good throw-on pieces for summer. You can dress either up or down which makes it the perfect staple piece to pack for your vacation. You can wear it casually as a cover-up during the day and pair it with fun shoes and a bag for night. And bring your kimono!

I am a girly girl and drawn to dresses and rompers and anything that really pops, but I think it’s important to have those basic, staple items that you can throw on every day and look good. I will definitely have more of those pieces coming up on the blog.

Thanks for reading!!! 🙂

P.S. How cute is my hubby? My photog convinced him to jump in at the end of the shoot (he might have been the one making me laugh in all my pictures). 😉

xx Missy
