The Beret Makes a Comeback

I am a HUGE fan of hats… I just think I look better in general wearing a hat than not wearing one. This “could” be because I tend not to spend enough time styling the hair on the top of my head. Or it also could be that my head is slightly larger than average so the hats camouflage that. I don’t discriminate against any type of hat, but I definitely go through phases… seasonally on which hat draws my attention. Baseball, fedora, beanie whatever, I love them all.
When I was in NYC for fashion week with my friend Lyndi from Lyndi in the City, we were unpacking our bags in our hotel room and showing each other what we brought to wear on our trip. She busted out a camel colored beret, and I think I said “oh, no Lyndi you didn’t.” ha! Let me be clear she totally could have rocked that hat, and it was so darn hot in New York that I don’t think she wanted to wear a hat in that heat.
It must have planted a seed in my head, because a month or two later I was shopping at Anthropologie and came across this fuzzy beret in my favorite fall color and knew that I had to have it. I kid you not I have worn this beret almost every other day. Some days I style it more like a beanie and other days I wear it more like a traditional French beret. I like it covering my forehead and also pushed back so the front of my hair peeks out on both sides. Basically I am a huge fan of this beret comeback.
I am actually wearing it right now as I type this! 🙂 In the morning, I drop Max off at pre-school and I feel so much more pulled together if I throw on a hat. Then I come home, work on my blog post and then shower and get ready for the day (or I skip the shower, go to gym and take a bath later). I find that I work my best in the morning… that’s usually when I feel most inspired to write so that is what is working for me lately.
One note before I go… I am in LOVE with this top. It is almost like a hybrid sweater… the sleeves and top half are sweater material and the bottom is a flowy material. It’s great for Orange County fall because it’s not too hot to wear in this sweltering heat. The lace-up detail is so fun, and you can loosen or tighten depending on the look you are going for. Lace-up sweaters are on trend right now, and I haven’t seen anyone sporting this one.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and reading! I hope you will stick around for a while. I love each and every one of you. Happy Monday, and have a great week! Missy
