You may not know this about me, but I am originally from Bakersfield… and if you don’t know where Bakersfield is… all you need to take away from this is that it’s very hot there. I think because I grew up in Bakersfield, I really don’t like being hot. I will take winter over summer any day! But yeah I know, it’s easy for me to say that living in Orange County where we don’t experience cold, snowy winters (which I am honestly bummed about). In the winter months here, I don’t really like turning on the heater um ever, and during the rest of the year I always have the A/C pumped up. In most relationships, the man is the one complaining about it being too hot and the woman is always freezing but my poor honey… with us it’s the opposite.
I love cold weather, and I LOVE chunky sweaters. Seriously, there is nothing more cozy to wear than a chunky sweater. The chunkier the better, and the more they get used & washed, the better they become. These photos are from a recent collaboration with OC Style Report, an online fashion mag which featured me as their first blogger of the month. The girls from OC Style Report and I met at one of my all-time favorite boutiques Modern Romance in Newport Beach to pull stuff for our shoot. This chunky Free People cardigan was one of the first things I spotted & grabbed immediately. And had to buy it for myself! The good news is that it’s now on major sale here and here so nab it while you can! Free People in general has generous sizing. I initially got the XS, but the sleeves were a little short so I exchanged for the small.
We shot these photos in the hills by my house, and this was one of my favorite looks (I will be sharing some others throughout the week). We layered this chunky sweater over a denim jacket (a denim shirt would work great) and a suede fringe skirt and topped off with some clogs.
I will be transitioning to spring outfits on the blog over the next month or so. One of my favorite ways to transition wardrobe from winter to spring is layering chunky sweaters and cardigans over maxi dresses and skirts. You will definitely be seeing that in the weeks to come! It is almost dress season again, and I couldn’t be more excited!!!

Missy
