Happy Friday! I am so excited to share this adorable floral romper with you but wanted to chat about something else first. Last Monday’s blog post- where I celebrated Sapphire Diaries’s mini-milestone of 3 months up & running by chatting about my experience in starting a fashion blog- was so popular that I thought I would continue in the same vein and reveal more blogging secrets. 😉 If you missed Monday’s post, see it here.
Since I started Sapphire Diaries, I have had several people I know on a personal level approach me with questions about starting their own blog. They typically have the same questions so I thought I would share their questions (and my responses) with you. As I mentioned in Monday’s post, the first question is usually- do you buy all of the stuff? This question still makes me laugh because I don’t know, I guess I wouldn’t have the guts to ask someone that. OK, so let’s move on from that one. Here are the other common questions:
Does blogging require a lot of time? Yes, for me especially. I am a perfectionist, and it’s really hard for me to do something without giving my 100%. I am not saying my blog is perfect by any means, but I spend a lot of time redoing things and trying to make it better. With that said, blogging is fun for me. I enjoy beautiful photography, writing, and shopping so this satisfies my creative side. Because I am a stay at home mom, this requires a daily juggling act.
Do you use a professional photographer? How often do you take pictures, and do you photograph more than one outfit each time? I am hesitant to put this answer out there because it can take the illusion out of fashion blogging… the illusion being that fashion bloggers are always put together and wearing blog-worthy outfits every day. Maybe this is the case for some bloggers, but it just isn’t realistic. Yes, I use a professional photographer (Taylor Cole) who I adore! We shoot on a weekly basis and typically shoot between 3-4 outfits each session. Pictures are SO important, and that is why for me using a professional photographer is key. Some successful fashion bloggers have their husbands shoot the photos and do their own editing using Photoshop. If you plan on hiring a professional photographer for your blog some important questions to ask are- what do you charge per session, how long do I get each session, do I pay more if time goes over, how much editing do you do, what is turn time to get the photos back? Communication is key to a long-standing successful relationship with your photographer. The more you shoot with the same person, the more comfortable you are and the quicker the session goes, and your pictures will just keep getting better and better.
Okay, now let’s get to this amazing floral romper by Cupcakes and Cashmere. I am such a sucker for a floral print, especially one with a vintage feel like this. This is probably my favorite item in my wardrobe right now. It’s one of those pieces I am “saving” in my closet so it feels new, haha. This romper sold out in the 24 hours (I spotted it on both Nordstrom and Shopbop), and I am hopeful for a re-stock. I will keep my eye on it and notify via Instagram if I see it come back in stock. If you aren’t following me on Instagram already, you can follow me here. I love rompers, especially for summer, and I linked a few of my favorites below.
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
