Do you ever wonder if fashion bloggers always look pulled together? Like if you ran into your favorite fashion blogger on the street, do you think she would be all dolled up like she is in her outfit posts? Before I started Sapphire Diaries, I was pretty naive about how fashion blogging worked. I didn’t give it a whole lot of thought, but I guess I assumed bloggers snapped shots of what they were wearing that day. It would be very cool if that were the case (and maybe some do), but it really isn’t realistic or efficient.

I have always aspired to be one of those girls who looks effortlessly pulled together all the time. And no, I am not one of those girls. Before I got married, I dated a guy who wanted me to be his trophy wife, and he was really disappointed that I liked to hang out in my cozy, casual clothes at home. These days, at least half of the week, I am sporting workout clothes and no makeup. And I hope I don’t run into any of you at that time- haha. I take my son Max with me to my morning workout, and I usually get ready for the day when he takes his nap after lunch. Definitely not ideal, but I have a feeling I am not the only one who does this. 😉

Sometimes I am so tired I just don’t feel like getting ready.  Ever have that feeling? I never knew what tired was until I became a mom. I thought I did, but I was wrong. Max didn’t sleep through the night until he was about one and a half. Although he is two and a half years old now, I think I am still catching up from that sleep deprivation. haha If I am having one of those days, I do two things that instantly make me feel pulled together. I throw on a bright, bold lipstick (my current favorite is an orangey red) and a cute hat.

I love this outfit because it has my two of my favorites- a bold, red lip and a hat. And let’s talk about those shoes- every girl needs a good pair of red statement shoes. They never go out of style, and they can spice up your outfit in a pinch. I love my red Stuart Weitzman shoes, but I also love these too which have a similar vibe.

Do you have any secrets or tips for feeling instantly pulled together? Thanks for reading!

xx Missy
