It is still blazing hot where we live so unfortunately there were no cozy sweaters, scarves, or over-the-knee boots for this trip to the patch. I had originally wanted Chad to wear this vest layered over this shirt, but there was no way. Have you ever noticed that men get super grumpy when they are hot? So while Chad couldn’t wear plaid, he is wearing my favorite fall color. This henley is such a great basic and comes in four colors… we also love this one too!

Both henley’s are from Nordstrom Men’s Shop, and the great thing about Nordstrom’s private label is the quality at an affordable price point. The holidays are just around the corner, and these henley’s make great gifts… you seriously can’t go wrong! I am also loving this sweater as another holiday gifting idea for your man. But before I get carried away with Christmas, let’s talk fall…

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is visit a pumpkin patch. It’s an easy family activity, and while I like the whole pumpkin aspect (CAN’T STOP BUYING) the kids love all the activities. I swear pumpkin patches weren’t this fun when I was little. One of the pumpkin patches near my house even has a mini rollercoaster ride. Pumpkin patches are also great for photo opp’s! If you are going to the pumpkin patch mostly to take photos (you know you are!), I recommend going right when they open- less people, better lighting OR an hour before sunset to capture that magic hour light.

Other Fall Activity Ideas:

– Fall hike (Google if there is anywhere near you with fall foliage).

– Collect items from the hike to make handmade decorations for the home. Such as stringing pine cone together or crafting with leaves

– Carve pumpkins / Have a pumpkin carving contest. Bake the pumpkin seeds.

– Go apple picking and then make apple pie together

– Paint pumpkins for decorations (cute idea- paint names on small pumpkins to use as place cards for Thanksgiving table)

– Make pumpkin bread+ apple cider and have a family game night (preferably by the fire if its cold!)

–  Family getaway to the mountains (or to see fall foliage)

– Make hot chocolate and tell spooky stories with flashlights

– Be prepared and take your family photos in the fall instead of waiting till winter!
